After Dr.Mc.Cain came back to the US, the cardiac surgery in Surabaya was continued by Dr.Liem Bing Hwie and Dr.Hamami. However, due to the lack of cases, the sucess rate of the surgery was quite unsatisfied. On 1976, dr.Puruhito was looking for assistant, the first was Dr.Johny Baroek, but he was only last for 6 month, followed by dr.Sumarno Hutomo and Dr.Soetrisno Alibasyah, with the same fate. After a while, Dr.Setiono Basuki came in, he was son-in-law of Dr.R.Soetojo, Head of Surgery Department at that time, followed by Dr.Paul Tahalele, Dr. Wahyu, Dr. Iwan Boestan, where they were sent to Erlangen, Nurnberg, Germany, as well.

At 1983, Division of Thoracic, Cardiac, and Surgery started to progress, with dr.Paul Tahalele coming back from Germany. After 8 years, they worked so hard in developing Cardiac Surgery in Surabaya, continued by the next generation of cardiac surgery in Surabaya, namely dr. Agung Prasmono, dr. Heru Kusbijanto dan dr.
